Not One DROP: Stop the Russian Diesel Deal

Our families are paying for this deal πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦

We are your neighbors. And many of us start every morning by checking whether our parents, siblings, and friends in Ukraine survived the night.

This week, too many didn't. Russian strikes killed 33 people on two buses in Kramatorsk and 22 more, including children, in an apartment building in Pryluky. πŸ’” These are the attacks Russia funds with its oil and fuel money.

That is why our community celebrated last month when Congress passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act with overwhelming bipartisan support. We thank Senator Kaine, Senator Warner, and Representative Kiggans for standing with Ukraine on that vote.

Now that promise is being broken. Just three weeks after the law was signed, the President agreed to put nearly 5 million tons of Russian diesel onto American and global markets, and Treasury waived sanctions to allow it. πŸ›’οΈ

This deal comes at the worst possible moment. Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries have hit so hard that Moscow banned its own diesel exports. The pressure was working. This deal releases it.

It also undercuts America's word. How can we ask India, Hungary or other country to stop buying Russian energy while Washington makes its own deal with the Kremlin?

We are asking our representatives to:

πŸ—£οΈ Publicly condemn the Russian diesel deal.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pass the DROP Act (SA 5878) in this year's NDAA and keep it in the final bill, so the sanctions Congress voted for cannot be quietly undone.

66% of Americans want more economic pressure on Russia. Our community asks for nothing more than what Congress already promised.
