Dear Friends of Ukraine,
While the Administration has committed to arming Ukraine through NATO purchases of American weaponry, the White House also deferred sanctions against russia for another 50 days to give putin an opportunity to seek "peace" with Ukraine. Meanwhile, overnight, russia launched another unrelenting assault against innocent civilians throughout all of Ukraine. It's obvious that putin does not want peace!
According to new data from the UN, June 2025 was the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians since russia’s full-scale invasion began more than three years ago. Waiting an additional 50 days to impose further sanctions only gives russia more time to collect revenue for its war machine, evade sanctions, and kill Ukrainian civilians.
Congress is in session for two more weeks before it breaks for its traditional August recess. To achieve peace through strength, Congress must enact the “SANCTIONING RUSSIA ACT of 2025” (S.1241/H.R.2548). The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) and its Washington, DC public affairs bureau – the Ukrainian National Information Service (UNIS) – are urgently calling on every friend of Ukraine to act resolutely and to contact your elected officials (two senators and one representative) and strongly urge them to pass a comprehensive sanctions package. Whether senators or congressmen have already co-sponsored S.1241 or H.R.2548, the bills need to come to the floor for a vote immediately!
Advocacy of this very important matter will prove to be of historical significance.

It is evident that russia wants nothing more than to eradicate Ukraine and all Ukrainians. In June 2025, Ukraine suffered the greatest number of drone and rocket attacks since the beginning of russia's genocidal war against Ukraine. Each week brings more suffering, death, and destruction. Ukraine does not have 50 days to wait for more rhetoric from the kremlin.
I urge you to act swiftly and bring to the floor for a vote the SANCTIONING RUSSIA ACT of 2025 (S.1241 and H.R.2548, respectively). This long-awaited and comprehensive sanctions bill will help stop russia's revenue flow that funds its war against Ukraine.
Freedom and democracy are more than just words...it is time to support Ukraine and defend Western values!
