School’s personnel was helping to distribute toys among different groups of children
We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported the Ukrainian Community Center of Hampton Roads Toy Drive for Ukrainian orphaned and vulnerable children.
We recently received a beautiful report from our volunteer in Ukraine, Iryna Zatorska, who personally delivered the donated toys to the Lysohirska Residential School for Children with Special Needs and witnessed firsthand the joy they brought to the children.
Iryna shared these touching words:
"Yesterday was a very special visit to the Lysohirska Residential School for Children with Special Needs. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the Ukrainian Community Center of Hampton Roads and all the volunteers for the incredible warmth, care, and love you give to Ukrainian children.
It is especially meaningful to know that even from thousands of miles away, you have not forgotten children who have been deprived of parental care. You continue to find ways to support them, sending gifts, attention, and most importantly, the feeling that they are not alone.
To some, these are simply gifts. But to a child, they are moments of happiness, genuine smiles, and proof that someone remembers them and cares about them.
Thank you to every volunteer for your time, kindness, compassion, and generous heart. Thank you for standing with Ukraine and its children, even from afar.

Your generosity did far more than deliver toys. It delivered hope, comfort, and the reminder that these children are seen, valued, and loved.
